Save Yourself

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
- Emily Dickinson

It is easy
To be as silent as a rock
Even easier
To disappear like fog
And withdraw like smoke.
It is hard
To move,
To speak;
And the hardest thing
Is to get into some actions,
To live.

Does your soul feel tired
Even if you’ve slept for hours?
Those unattainable ambitions,
Those unfulfilled dreams
Are they the mountains
Rising from your delicate heart?

Can you not embrace
A calm existence —
With the mild beating of your chest,
The beauty of your thoughts
And the gentleness of your charm?
Please remember
It is better to do something
Than doing absolutely nothing —
Life lifts up its hidden veil
Only if you are eager to live.

Even if reality turns
Your youthful mind into a barren land
And your skin — a distant cemetery;
What remembers you
Will always reach back to you
So, let go of
What fails you;
And you’ll see
Finally, you are saved.
